Music (MUS) information

Requirements

A. Music

All requirements of either the Music General Program (BA) or the Music Education Program (BME) , to include:

To be taken during the first semester of the junior year:
MUS 391 - Independent Study (1-3) (on music research methods, elected for 1 credit)
In conjunction with one of:
MUS 361 - Seminar in Music History (3)
MUS 371 - Conducting I (2)
MUS 372 - Conducting II (2)
An additional course from:

MUS 361 , MUS 371 , MUS 372

All requirements of the
College of Arts and Sciences Bachelor of Arts
degree, including General Education requirements with a foreign language requirement.

B. Honors

All requirements for the University Honors Program to include:

To be taken during the second semester of the junior year:
MUS 393 - Honors Independent Study (3)
MUS 498 - Honors Thesis I (4)
MUS 499 - Honors Thesis II (4)

Prospective Honors Program students are urged to acquaint themselves as early as possible with the requirements above, as well as the particular procedures for acceptance into the Music Department’s Honors Program. Please contact the Departmental Honors Advisor or the Honors Program Director for this information.
