EDL 844 - Community Relations, Equity Issues and Ethical Leadership Admission to Ed.D. program. (3)
Exploration of the intersections between education, democracy and diversity in American schooling, with special focus on relating theory to practice to respond to communal needs. Students explore communal diversity in a pluralistic democracy, and critically examine how educational institutions and practices might be structured equitably in ways that build social justice. Students develop an awareness of race, ethnicity, class, gender and other lines of difference, key to becoming reflective educational leaders who can responsively apply specific techniques in building school-community relations that foster intentional communication and collaboration between school personnel and the community.
