Psychology (PSY) information

Requirements

A. Psychology

At least 46 credits in psychology to include:

Foundation Courses (14 credits)

Core Courses (15 credits)

One from each area:

Social Psychology

Applied Psychology

Advanced Research Courses (8 credits)

Electives (9 credits)

Additional PSY courses not to include PSY 200.

B. Departmental Evaluation

Satisfactory performance on departmental comprehensive educational evaluation.

C. Additional Requirements

All requirements of the College of Arts and Sciences (CAS) Bachelor of Science degree, including General Education Program and all University of Michigan-Flint graduation requirements . General Education requirements in the natural sciences may not include courses in psychology. Academic integrity is a core component of our program and students wishing to major or minor in psychology must have no more than one finding of academic dishonesty on record within the CAS Dean’s office, in order to declare or continue as a Psychology major or minor.

Note

Appropriate courses outside psychology are selected in conjunction with the academic advisor.

Minimum Credits for the Degree: 124 credits

Honors Program Requirements

Prospective Honors Program students are required to complete all of the above Psychology requirements and University of Michigan-Flint Honors Program requirements.

Honors Program students are urged to acquaint themselves as early as possible with the requirements above as well as with the particular procedures for acceptance into the Psychology Honors Program. See the Psychology Honors Advisor or the Honors Program Director for this information.
