Requirements
Thirty-six credits in English, distributed as follows, with each course used to satisfy only one requirement
A. Literature (24 credits)
Literary Analysis (3 credits)
Ancient Literatures (3 credits)
One from:
American Literature before 1900 (3 credits)
One from:
American Literature after 1900 (3 credits)
One from:
British Literature before 1800 (3 credits)
One from:
British Literature after 1800 (3 credits)
One from:
British Literature from Any Period (3 credits)
One additional from:
Cross-Cultural Perspectives in Literature (3 credits)
One from:
Ethnic American Literature
B. Writing (3 credits)
One from:
C. Linguistics (3 credits)
One from:
D. Capstone Seminar (3 credits)
E. Elective (3 credits)
One additional ENG or ENG-crosslisted course at the 200 level or above.
F. Individual Writing Portfolio
Completion of an Individual Major Portfolio. Consult the department for portfolio guidelines.
Honors Program Requirements
Prospective Honors Program students are required to complete all of the above English Program with a Specialization in Literature requirements and University of Michigan-Flint Honors Program requirements.
Honors Program students are urged to acquaint themselves as early as possible with the requirements above as well as with the particular procedures for acceptance into the English with a Specialization in Literature Honors Program.
