The English Program with a Specialization in Writing (BA) program has been placed on moratorium status and is not currently accepting new students. Students who have already declared this major will be allowed to complete their program

Requirements
Thirty-six to 37 credits in English, including at least 18 at or above the 300 level from: A. Literature (15 credits)
Literary Analysis (3 credits)
Ancient Literature (3 credits)
One from: British Literature Pre-1800 (3 credits)
One from: British Literature, any period (3 credits)
One additional from: American/Ethnic Literature (3 credits)
One from: B. Writing (18-19 credits)
Composition Theory (6-7 credits)
Two from: Writing Practice (9 credits)
Three courses in nonfiction, creative writing, and/or technical and professional communications, from: Linguistics (3 credits)
One from: C. Senior Seminar (3 credits)
D. Individual Writing Portfolio
Completion of an Individual Major Portfolio. Consult the department for portfolio guidelines. Honors Program Requirements
Prospective Honors Program students are required to complete all of the above English Program with a Specialization in Writing requirements and University of Michigan-Flint Honors Program requirements. Honors Program students are urged to acquaint themselves as early as possible with the requirements above as well as with the particular procedures for acceptance into the English with a Specialization in Writing Honors Program.
