Requirements
Thirty-six credits, including at least 18 at or above the 300 level, as follows: A. Foundation for Analyzing Literature and Language (12 credits)
B. Language Change in English (6 credits)
Literature Before 1800
One from: C. Language and Society (6 credits)
Language and Variation
One from: Ethnic, Global or Women’s Literature
One from: D. Linguistics Electives (6 credits)
Psycholinguistics
One from: Additional Elective
One from: E. Writing Elective (3 credits)
One from: F. Senior Seminar (3 credits)
G. Individual Writing Portfolio
Completion of an Individual Writing Portfolio. Contact the Department for portfolio guidelines. Honors Program Requirements
Prospective Honors Program students are required to complete all of the above English Program with a Specialization in Linguistics requirements and University of Michigan-Flint Honors Program requirements. Honors Program students are urged to acquaint themselves as early as possible with the requirements above as well as with the particular procedures for acceptance into the English with a Specialization in Linguistics Honors Program.
