Post-Graduate Adult-Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner Certificate

The Adult-Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner (AGACNP) certificate program is designed to educate nurses who want to manage and improve outcomes for culturally diverse populations of acutely ill patients with complex and often chronic illnesses across the adult life span. The AGACNP provides coordination and continuity of care for acute and chronic illness, and guides transition back to the community and primary care providers.

Graduates are qualified to sit for the Adult-Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner certification examination.

Admission Requirements
Admission to the Post-Graduate Certificate program is available to certified licensed nurse practitioners seeking licensure as Adult-Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioners.

The following are required:

  • Master of Science in Nursing from a regionally accredited institution with an overall minimum GPA of 3.2 on a 4.0 scale
  • Current unencumbered license as a nurse practitioner (in a specialty other than the discipline to be studied)
  • Current unencumbered RN license in the United States
  • Current certification as an Advanced Cardiac Life Support Provider (ACLS) prior to the start of the acute care track
  • Current certification as a Basic Life Support Provider (BLS)

Note
Additional fees may apply for out-of-state applicants, who will require at least two faculty site visits.  All students will be required to come to campus twice during the acute care program.

Transfer/Waiver of Credit
Transfer of credit is not permitted for the Post-Graduate Adult-Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner Certificate program.  NUR 524 may be waived if equivalent coursework has been completed at an accredited institution within the last five years.
