ESS includes the disciplines of Geography, Planning, and Environment which focus on the study of earth environments. Several related fields, including environmental studies, human and physical geography, urban and environmental planning, and sustainability and sustainable systems are united by a common interest in earth environments, how these natural systems and dynamics are impacted by natural and human forces, and how they can be planned, managed, and sustained for the future.
ESS courses contribute to degree programs that lead to careers in environmental management and sustainability, urban planning, science teaching, resource management, computer mapping, and to prepare students for graduate study.
Program
A Social Sciences Joint Program (BA) with an emphasis in geography is available.
